"Best Presentation" of the ACS Controlled Radical Polymerization Symposium for Dr. Edmondo M. Benetti
The work by Dr. Edmondo M. Benetti on highly-confined controlled radical polymerizations, presented at the Controlled Radical Polymerization Session of the 254th American Chemical Society National Meeting (20-25th September 2017, Washington DC) was identified as the "Best Presentation" of the symposium.
Through his studies on atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP), Dr. Benetti demonstrated that performing polymerization processes within highly confined reaction volumes the growth of macromolecules can be precisely modulated and the formation of polymer micro-/nanostructures is accomplished. This includes the application of "inert" confinement volumes and catalytically active ones, featuring Copper surfaces. The studies of Dr. Benetti and the Polymer Surfaces Group from D-MATL have been recently published on Macromolecules.
