Prof. A. Dieter Schlüter receives "Goldene Eule 2010"
Every year the ETH Students' Association (VSETH) awards a "Golden Owl" prize to lecturers whom the students judge to be particularly good and inspiring teachers. The distinction is awarded at the "Dies academicus" which commemorates the foundation of the academic institution and takes place around 20 November, ETH Zurich’s anniversary. This year’s winner in the Department of Materials is Prof. Dieter Schlüter. Congratulations!
Professorship "Materials Science in Sustainable Construction"
On the occasion of its 100-years anniversary, Sika AG supports a new professorship for "Material Science in Sustainable Construction" at the Department of Materials at ETH Zurich.
Prof. Dr. Nicola A. Spaldin
Prof. Dr. Nicola A. Spaldin is currently professor and director of the International Center for Materials Research at the University of California in Santa Barbara (USA). She was appointed by the ETH Board as full professor of Material Theory.
Dr. Manfred P. Heuberger
Dr. Manfred P. Heuberger, currently researcher and lecturer at the ETH Zurich and director of Advanced Fibres at the research institute Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology Empa, has been appointed honorary professor at ETH Zurich.
Dr. Theo A. Tervoort
Dr. Theo A. Tervoort, ein international hoch anerkannter Lehrer und Forscher im Gebiet der mechanischen Eigenschaften von Polymeren, wurde zu einem Titularprofessor der ETH Zürich ernannt.
Ralph Spolenak appointed Associate Professor
At its meeting on 18 and 19 May 2010 the ETH Board appointed D-MATL professor Ralph Spolenak as associate professor of nanometallurgy.
FIFA supports ETH Professorship in Medical Technology
ETH Zurich creates a new professorship in Medical Technology. This is supported by the world football governing body FIFA with CHF 500,000 annually over the time period of 10 years.
2010 POLY Fellows
Professor Ulrich W. Suter was elected Founding POLY Fellow by the Division of Polymer Chemistry of the American Chemical Society on 24 March 2010.
CITIUS – Full speed ahead
Together with the Swiss Bobsleigh Federation SBSV and partners from industry ETH Zurich has built the Olympia bobs for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver.
