Originally from China, Yanxia got her B.S in Materials Science at Nanjing University in China in 2019. She then started her master's study at ETH Zurich. As part of her master's study, she conducted her master thesis at UZH under the supervision of Prof. Ben Schuler and then obtained her Master's degree from the Department of Materials at ETH in 2021. She did both of her master projects on soft materials, where she found herself fascinated with the properties and fabrications of soft materials. Thus, she decided to continue doing a Ph.D.
