Professorships

SNF and ERC Assistant Professorships

The Department supports a limited number of applications of outstanding young researchers for external pageERC Grants and external pageSNSF Eccellenza Professorial Fellowships. Candidates in research areas complementary to existing directions are welcome. Successful candidates may be invited by the ETH President to negotiate a five-year independent non-tenure-track assistant professor position. Extensive laboratory space, a start-up budget and an annual budget for teaching and research in addition to the ERC funding will be provided.

For the next application cycle, we particularly encourage proposals in:

  • Solid-state chemistry and synthesis of materials with functional electronic and magnetic properties
  • Translational materials research

Interested candidates should apply using the external pageapplication form with the following documentation:

  • CV
  • List of publications
  • Research statement (max. 2 pages, i.e. summary of grant proposal)
  • Teaching statement (max. 1 page)
  • Motivation letter (including a clear statement of how the candidate’s research and teaching will fit in the current portfolio of the Department)
