Athina Anastasaki Receives the 2023 ACS Macroletters/ Biomacromolecules/ Macromolecules Young Investigator Award
Athina Anastasaki, Head of the Laboratory of Polymeric Materials, wins the 2023 ACS Macroletters/Biomacromolecules/Macromolecules Young Investigator Award which seeks to recognize two individuals, early in their careers (under 40), who have had a major impact on the field of polymer science.
The ACS Macro Letters/ Biomacromolecules/ Macromolecules Young Investigator Award recognizes two individuals, early in their careers, who have made a major impact on the field of polymer science. This award was established in 2013 and is administered and supported by the POLY division of the ACS and the following journals of ACS Publications: ACS Macro Letters, Biomacromolecules, and Macromolecules. The award is presented annually at the Fall ACS National Meeting during the POLY/PMSE award program.
Professors Anastasaki and Professor Konkolewicz will be honored during an award symposium at ACS Fall 2023 in San Francisco, from August 13-17. Professor Anastasaki was selected for this award in recognition of her pioneering work in constructing and deconstructing polymers by controlled radical polymerization. Her work includes developing modern strategies to control polymer dispersity, end-group fidelity and self-assembly as well as establishing highly efficient depolymerization protocols where the starting materials can be retrieved in a near quantitative fashion.
