MaP Graduate Symposium 2020
The 15th edition of the MaP Graduate Symposium took place on 01 & 02 July 2020. The D-MATL was extremely (!!) successfully represented this year, with several high-class talks and poster presentations. It is therefore not surprising that many of our awards went to members of D-MATL.
MaP Award 2020
The winner of this year's MaP Award (the MaP award for the most promising doctoral thesis in ‘Materials and Processes’ completed at ETH the year before).
Dr. Felix Eltes from the group of Manfred Fiebig (Multifunctional Ferroic Materials) for his PhD thesis Barium Titanate Pockels Modulators Integrated With Silicon Photonic Circuits
Dr. Felix Eltes established a major milestone in the field of quantum photonics, proving that integrated BaTiO3 electro-optical modulators can be used as optical switches at cryogenic temperature. His PhD project exhibits the high potential of the technology and leaves an impact in various scientific fields. Dr. Felix Eltes gave an outstanding talk during the MaP Award Session at the MaP Graduate Symposium 2020, presenting his interdisciplinary work from theory to application in a very comprehensive way for a general public.
MaP Poster Award
Nicole Kleger (Complex Materials) came second and Madeleine Fellner (Multifunctional Materials) third in this year's MaP Poster Prize.
The jury selected 6 finalists and the audience chose the best 3 based on 2-minute Flash poster presentations (hand-drawn A4 sheet).
More information will be published on the MaP Graduate Symposium page
MaP People's Choice Poster Prize 2020
This award goes to Nicole Kleger (Complex Materials) and was voted on by all symposium participants.
MaP Image Contest
Of the 19 pictures in the MaP Image Contest, Julia Carpenter (Complex Materials) won the 1st price, Murielle Schreck (Multifunctional Materials) came second and Nicole Kleger (Complex Materials) with Martina Cihova (Metal Physics and Technology) third.
Industry Poster Award
Madeleine Fellner (Multifunctional Materials) received two of the three awards: the “Avantama Most Significant Commercialization Potential Poster Award" from Avantama and the “BASF Sustainability Poster Award” from BASF
Marius Wagner (Nanometallurgy) was awarded the "BASF Digital Manufacturing Poster Award" by BASF
